Free practice questions for 12 college courses
Free practice question sets with answers for microbiology, psychology, economics, accounting, nutrition, EMT, Security+ and more, plus key terms and formula sheets.
Every set below is 12 questions taken word for word from one of Encodr's free course decks, with the answer and a short explanation under each question. Each set is spread across at least 10 units of its course, so it works as a quick check of the whole course rather than one chapter.
How to use a practice set
Cover the answer, commit to your own answer first, then read. That one habit is the whole point: answering from memory is what makes the material stick, which is the testing effect, and it is why active recall beats passive review. If you were confident and wrong, pay extra attention to the correction, because confident errors are the ones you are most likely to fix for good (the hypercorrection effect).
A set of 12 is a sample, not the course. Use it to find the units you are weak on, then spend your time there. The full decks schedule every card for you, and the study schedule generator turns an exam date into a day-by-day plan.

Calculators that go with them
Several of these courses have math that is easier to learn with a calculator that shows its working: the bacterial growth calculator, serial dilution calculator, BMR and TDEE calculator, macronutrient calculator, rule of nines calculator, z-score calculator, price elasticity calculator, inflation calculator, depreciation calculator, financial ratio calculator, number base converter and security risk calculator. The rest are on the free tools page.
Where the questions come from
Each set is drawn from a full course on Encodr, and every course is free. The free gen ed course flashcards roundup describes each one, and all courses and exam prep are listed in one place. If you are working through a whole deck, the flashcard deck time estimator shows how long first exposure will take at your pace.
Encodr turns this into a habit: study anything in a feed, and it schedules the rest.
